Where From Here?
Ever since the Crisis of 2008 the market economy has organized a 'wonderful' mismatch between supply and demand, between demographic need and building. The demand for new buildings is not because people are looking for a home, but because money is looking for a home. Houses are bought not be lived in but to be rented out, or sold for a higher price. Architects are often unwittingly involved in this mismatch. What can be changed about our profession so that is not blindly complicit in this reality?
