AMO-designed Miu Miu Spring/Summer 2013 show streaming live today

Miu Miu's spring/summer womens catwalk show, designed by AMO, streams live at 14:00 CET today. Watch the show live here.

The request for a gigantic show is an opportunity to develop an architectural investigation of Auguste Perret's Palais d'Iena.

As opposed to designing a traditional catwalk, for the Miu Miu SS 2013, AMO organizes the audience on a cascade of three-dimensional seating devices that unfolds through the whole monumental ground floor, revealing multiple views of the central catwalk.

The sequences of tribunes, steps, islands and passages, overlaps with the existing architecture subverting its rigorous order or reinforcing its symmetries. The catwalk extends through, culminating in the hemicycle of the small parliament where it transforms the political core of the Conseil economique, social et environnemental into a spectacular theater.

Materials are basic and industrial: a prefabricated system of steel and wood plates is adapted to multiple geometries and situations. The system - rigorous and flexible at the same time - reflects the constructive principles and attitude of the original architecture.
